Welcome to the Australian 'Slow Dane Challenge'! The Slow Dane Challenge started in November 2009 to encourage Great Dane owners to get their Danes off the sofa and mentally stimulate them by teaching them new commands and tricks primarily with the clicker and also increasing the Bond and relationship building with their Dane.

Challenges typically are every 2 weeks unless a challenge is more complex and requires a longer time frame.

Dman Tugs will send a clicker free of charge to Australian Great Dane owners who wish to take part who don't already have a clicker!

"I don't have the time" is not an excuse in these challenges as training sessions don't need to be more than 2 minutes a day (the time it takes to make a Coffee!), after all many Great Danes have the attention span of a fly!

If at the end of the challenge deadline particpants haven't reached the standard that they were hoping for they are encouraged to keep at it!

Winners are choosen by their peers through a voting system on the Dane thread at the Australian DOL Forum therefore all participants needs to post their videos in this Dane thread by the deadline.

The challenge is called the 'Slow' Dane challenge, a tongue in cheek title for Danes who don't tend to be at the top of the most intelligent dog lists but are still more than capable if the work is put in. Breed is never an excuse for why a Great Dane can't reach a good level of obedience.

The Slow Dane Challenge is also open to Non-Danes who compete in a separate competition but with the same command/trick. We ask dogs who operate at a high level of obedience to not enter this competition as it is for Owners new to obedience and/or dogs that aren't super smarty pants!

Participants are more than welcome to using their editing skills to make their video more creative however the voting is based on what he dog is actually doing not what editing has been completed.

Dman Tugs supplies the prizes to 1st place winners of the Dane & Non-Dane winners.
